Slide-in truck campers may have their own benefits but they cannot limit their overall weight to what the Atlas Cabin Box by Turkish RV manufacturer Hotomobil has achieved. Touted as the world’s lightest cabin box, it weighs around 150 kg (330 lbs), which is significantly lighter than other full campers on the market. The truck camper topper offers security of a hard-shell tent along with basic living facilities one needs on a camping trip. It is claimed to provide sleeping space for 2-3 people.
The maker has minimized the overall weight of the camper box with a monoblock fiberglass shell. Its single-piece body is claimed to provide comfort in four seasons; however, the soft-walled structure will certainly require heating in winters. Furthermore, its aerodynamic structure reduces the vehicle’s load and minimizes wind resistance to preserve fuel efficiency. This camper topper can be used as a cargo area or a fully equipped caravan according to your needs.
Much like a rooftop tent, the Atlas Cabin Box transforms from a flat box into a cozy soft-walled cabin. With about 8.5-feet of interior height when opened, it provides enough standing room for most people. There is a comfortable living space with seating area, bed and storage areas along with two separate jerrycans for clean and dirty water. A portable stove is also included to prepare meals on-the-go.
Located on one end of the camper box, the bed measures 135 x 204cm and is accessed via a telescopic ladder from the side. As visible in pictures, the sleeping area can also be expanded to accommodate more people. I guess, it is done by covering up the seating area with cushions/boards. Storage area is added in such a creative way that the user can access them easily. The camper also comes with a side room feature that expands the living space to enhance freedom of movement.

What makes it more interesting is the various options for customizations inside out. The first thing you can personalize to match your style is the exterior shell color and the equipment you will be needing during the travel. You can also choose the interior layout as per your own needs. Go for an empty shell that you can customize with furniture or fixtures of your choice, or stick to the fully equipped Urban Edition.
As noted by New Atlas, the pricing for Atlas Cabin Box starts from €9,500 (approx. $11,000) for the empty shell and €11,900 ($13,825) for the fully-equipped Urban Edition.
