Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. From the crackling sound of the fire and sparkly decorations to good food and good company, everything about the holiday is heartwarming. But it is also the time to be nostalgic about the age-old traditions. IKEA knows how to hit the nostalgic spot as it brings back a 164-year-old holiday trend from Scandinavia for just $1.29.

Recently, IKEA launched its diverse VINTERFINT Holiday Collection, which is heavily influenced by glittery and old-fashioned décor items such as classic paper decorative knick-knacks. Amongst the wide variety of festive décor pieces at IKEA, woven heart ornament has made a comeback.

These heart-shaped paper ornaments have been inspired by the classic Scandinavian woven hearts, which have been the most loved Christmas decoration for many since the mid-19th century. It is believed that the first ever woven heart was made by revered Danish author Hans Christian Anderson.

The fun thing is that this paper décor is DIYable and comes with all the materials for you to make your paper hearts in a jiffy. You can even gather your family and friends and host a holiday crafts night. The online product page has a short and simple tutorial to follow, too.

Other than displaying them on your Christmas tree, you can open them and use them as baskets to store small pieces of candy, gifts, and good wishes. Many IKEA buyers and Christmas enthusiasts have commented expressing their fervor and joy over this adorable decoration. One person wrote, “Very Danish. These are nicely made and fun to assemble. Lots of uses. Great price. Thanks, IKEA!”

Grab the six-piece woven heart ornament pack for just $1.29 from IKEA and make your Christmas memories. But hurry, they might not be here for long. Happy holidays!
