As interest in alternative housing continues across Europe. The latest dwelling from French-based tiny house builder Baluchon highlights how thoughtful micro-dwellings can broaden the possibilities of small-space living. Dubbed Into the Woods, Baluchon’s latest tiny house comes with a fresh perspective on loft design, signalling another noteworthy addition to Europe’s micro-dwelling market.

Based on a double-axle trailer, Into the Woods tiny house measures 19.6 feet long and is built for full-time family living. The mobile home boasts the company’s signature aesthetic featuring cedar siding, a clean silhouette, and a balance between rustic charm and modern simplicity. While the scale matches previous Baluchon builds, the interior layout represents one of the company’s boldest departures from convention this year.

Instead of adopting the typical raised wooden loft seen in earlier Baluchon models, including the Yggdrasil and the Scandinavian-influenced Sauvage, Into the Woods tiny house features a suspended net platform that bridges two separate sleeping areas. This net replaces a solid floor, allowing daylight to spill through the upper level and into the living space below.

The end result is a surprisingly airy interior, countering the enclosed feeling lofted tiny home bedrooms create. Speaking of bedrooms, the tiny house bedrooms include two sleeping zones. The first of these is a smaller room intended for a child, and a larger space for adults. Both areas have low ceilings, though they feature an extended net section that aims to connect the bedroom and improve airflow.

On the main floor, there is a living room, kitchen and bathroom, each being simple and practical. The living room features a single armchair and a fold-down dining table designed for meals or office work.

Other features include a compact wood-burning stove that anchors the living space. Adjacent to the living room is the kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a two-burner propane cooktop, sink, cabinetry, and a mini-fridge. Not to mention floating shelves, an array of windows, adding airiness, aesthetic, and functionality to the house.

There is also a small bathroom with a toilet and a shower. Unlike other models in the Baluchon catalogue, Into the Woods tiny house omits a dedicated washbasin. The tiny house meets its water and power requirements via a standard RV-style hookup. There is no word on the price of the tiny house, but considering global market trends, we estimate it to be well above $80,000.
