The kitchen is one of the most important areas in the home, where cleanliness and hygiene are essential. While we’re often meticulous about many things, the utensil-cleaning sponge frequently goes overlooked. Studies reveal that a cleaning sponge harbors more bacteria and viruses than a bathroom, and to that, we can add the unpleasant odors that develop over time. Moreover, the typical sponges we use are made from plastic, polyurethane, or cellulose, making them non-biodegradable and challenging to dispose of responsibly.

For decades, little has changed in this regard—perhaps since its inception—but now the Infinity Sponge by Ivana Designs offers a solution. Constructed with hypoallergenic materials such as bamboo and silver, this sponge is crafted with anti-cut fabrics and features an air-cell bamboo sponge layer for advanced purification.

Lab-tested for effectiveness, it eliminates germs and odors while also being self-cleaning. It’s long-lasting, recyclable, and can be reused for a full year. According to the maker’s estimates, the Infinity Sponge could save an average U.S. household up to $234 annually on kitchen expenses, making it a more cost-effective choice than standard sponges.

The Infinity Sponge is crafted using advanced weaving technology from Germany. This technique includes specialized processes like hand-sealing the sponge for a precise fit, and weaving silver fiber and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fiber, twisted after weaving to enhance durability. Its double-twist structure is a hallmark of the meticulous loom process.

Infinity’s fibers are coated with pure silver at a micron scale, effectively combating bacteria, viruses, and protecting against health risks such as salmonella. The sponge is made from hypoallergenic, breathable, lightweight fabrics that allow airflow. It’s easy to clean—simply place it in the dishwasher or with your laundry. Once air-dried, the sponge feels completely refreshed, looking and performing like new.

The Infinity Sponge is usable with all kitchenware including non-stick ones, as it wouldn’t scratch them. This innovative solution to kitchen sponge is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter, where you prebook it now for an early bird price of $29.
