In the realm of tiny homes, the word ingenuity weighs a lot. Now and then, we come across a build that is truly a work of art. And this ultra-compact tiny house in Australia is no exception. It is an 86 square feet tiny house on foundation, which is smartly designed to fit on the back of a working tip truck for mobility. Despite its ultra-compact size, it accommodates every possible amenity to facilitate living.
Built and designed by a self-sufficient and creative couple, Jade and Steve, the tiny house has been everything they have dreamed of. It gives them freedom to move, work, or just enjoy life without missing out on anything. Anyway, the gooseneck exterior is built with cedar, and by employing some clever design choices, the couple has managed to pull the house on the back of Steve’s dumper truck, which he uses for work.
There are solar panels on the roof for easing stays on the road and an impressive mural on the exterior, made by Jade, who is a tattooist and an artist by profession. Other than this, they have added an awning that retracts out and gives them extra space to rest and enjoy the fantastic surroundings together.
Inside Jade and Steve’s tiny house, the beauty of timber comes alive. The interior feels a lot spacious, thanks to its ingenious design and the height of the structure that makes it feel a lot roomier than its actual size. The house is outfitted with everything one finds in a regular tiny house, including a kitchen, bedroom, toilet, two showers, and an abundance of storage.
Steve is a builder by profession, and Jade is an artist. The interior of their tiny house reflects their artistic vision, where every corner speaks of their artistry. Upon entering, there is a kitchen, which is surprisingly spacious with a generous countertop space, cabinets and drawers, and appliances like a refrigerator and a cooktop. A huge window in the kitchen connects the space with the outdoors. However, the couple has designed this window to be removable, so as not to feel disconnected from their surroundings.
Steve has built plenty of cubbies and cabinets for storing clothes and essentials. They have also incorporated many sentimental pieces and heirlooms to personalize the space. Moreover, the couple has not one but two showers and a composting toilet, adjacent to the kitchen. The composting toilet is built by Steve himself, which smartly hides inside a wooden seat that becomes one with the interior.

Last but not least, they have a warm and comfy bedroom. It doesn’t have much headroom, but it is decent enough to sit and sleep. However, they have added the skylight, which makes the bedroom a comfortable space to sleep under the stars.
Jade and Steve’s tiny house is integrated with a 100-amp lithium battery, a DC to DC charger, two 90-liter water tanks, and more to make their life on the road unhindered and memorable. Their tiny house is a nurturing retreat with lots of personal touches and creativity that gives them the freedom to work and travel, chasing a life of fulfillment and adventure. To turn their dream into reality, the couple has invested between $13,000 to 19,000.
