The L1 Chair has a minimalistic approach to its design while maintaining a sculptural quality. This simplistic chair was designed and unveiled by the Seoul-based design studio Object Leuci to serve as a piece of art and furniture. However the design of the chair is not the most intriguing aspect, but the material it employs. The L1 chair is made of stainless steel and vegetable leather, which is a rarely seen – but not unheard of – pairing.

The L1 chair is designed to become a favored piece of furniture that offers functionality and practicality. When not in use, it is meant to be used as a decorative piece, which has been a driving force for the designer.

The chair exhibits a more complicated profile that one might find bizarre. However, it still has the most effortless structure with steel frames positioned together in the most unified way, encouraging its impeccable crafting. The vegetable leather for the seat and the backrest is spun immaculately through the metal frame, further adding character to the chair.

For Object Leuci, making the L1 Chair meant breaking the boundaries of conventional furniture and creating something that survives as an artistic piece as well. With its sculptural aspect, it gives users the flexibility to utilize it however they want, regardless of the setting.

This idea is mirrored in the repetitiveness of a common structure into more complex and strange forms that when viewed in an unconventional setting bring harmony through its shape. The chair stresses this idea and showcases every elemental contribution to the chair’s form and function.
