Designed as a customizable light for homes, offices, and retail spaces, Light IT not only gives you the freedom to place light where you need it but also lets you direct the spotlight, in real-time, in the direction you want it, all while offering exceptional light quality at an affordable price.
Bart defines himself as a solutions engineer, drawing from his experience in building robotic systems and consumer products. Light IT is his solution to the everyday problem of stationary light, which until your installer permits, is angled in the direction it’s set. With magnets and mechanics – all built by Bart himself – Light IT fixture adapts to your lifestyle, giving you the freedom of shaping the interior with lights like never possible before.
The motive here is to provide spotlights that have a reduced track size and a simpler installation. Light IT thus comprises low voltage rails, a magnetic lamp, and a power adaptor, which can be used standalone or in a group, depending on the light requirement. The rail attaches (using special adhesive) to any surface: ceiling, wall, or furniture, and can be cut to size using standard metal shears. The light fixture and power adaptor magnetically attach to the rail. Installation is completely tool-free: no screws or drilling required. Just stick the rails and clip on the lamp and you’re good to go.
The wonderful thing about Light IT is that the lamps mounted on the rails can be freely rotated in all directions, which means you can precisely move the light focus to where you need it. “Need more light? Add more lamps. Need to move them? Just drag & drop – physically,” it’s that simple, Bart explains. It uses warm white light, which is easy on the eyes and environmentally friendly. And because it’s low voltage, neither the rails nor the fixtures get hot, making it safe for homes with elderly, children, or pets.
Taking things a step further, Light IT lamps are smart-enabled. A simple integration a third-party module can allow the fixture(s) to take voice commands, adhere to preset schedules or even work through the commands from the mobile phone via an app. This allows Light IT to not just give you total freedom in layout and placement, but even in controls.
Light IT magnetic lighting system has hit Kickstarter for crowdfunding. Its injection molded parts are ready for assembly and if everything remains on track, shipping will begin in September 2025.
