ADUs (accessory dwelling units) have come of age in the pandemic to present a multipurpose dwelling that provides features of a regular house despite their petite size. While I don’t resonate with the idea of putting up the elderly in a backyard AUD guesthouse, I’d still agree, ADUs are pretty beneficial dwellings for additional rental income or a mini office.

Mini³ (Minicube) ADU by Minimaliste is a compact dwelling that presents you with the comforts of a regular home unless you want to cook a meal or take a pee. It is not only a perfect unit to provide additional living space to your existing property but can be used as a home office or an art studio. Irrespective of the compact size of ADUs, people’s needs in terms of space keep on evolving and Mini³ caters to those needs by offering a multipurpose unit with a number of possibilities.

The 8×12 feet model features an open interior. Whether you want a home office, a living room, or a bedroom; Mini³ ADU can be any or all. In addition, it can even be used for yoga, as a gym, or as an art studio, the possibilities are infinite. Being an open floor, you can adjust and arrange the space according to your needs.

Costing $37,500, Minimaliste claims that the Mini³ tiny dwelling can accommodate a minimum of two people and offer them a productive working space. Fully electric on a 30A or 50A panel, Mini³ can easily pack a living room, queen-size bed, and office furnishing inside its compact structure that’s finished in black cedar and steel siding.

The aluminum doors and window allow natural light to pass in and keep the dwelling ventilated throughout. Minimaliste has also added a heating system, air exchanger, and entrance closet to the dwelling, making it useable throughout the year, in every season.

On the downside, there is no kitchen or bathroom in the existing model, implying no water supply too. While you might have to abide by your respective municipality laws, Mini³ can be installed in your backyard without any hassle.

The Minimaliste has also teased a 10×16 feet model, which is in the works and coming soon. I hope they could figure out a way to accommodate both a kitchen and a bathroom in it.
