I miss the days when the tiny house movement was about living in a trailer-size home. Over the years, manufacturers have started making tiny houses as big as 40 feet long. If we go into the roots of the movement and its evolution, we’ll realize that many factors have determined the size of these micro dwellings. Nevertheless, there are still makers across the globe that make a dwelling, which measures a little below 20 feet long. Today, we’ll discuss one such maker and its creation dubbed Miter Box tiny house.

Designed by Oregon-based firm, Shelter Wise, the tiny house is built on a double-axle trailer and capped by a metal roof. It measures 16 feet in length and 8.5 feet in width. Despite its petite size, the tiny house features a kitchen, bathroom, and a couple of bedrooms. The material used to make the tiny house includes a mixture of reclaimed wood, a mix of metals, and rubber cork. Not to mention, a myriad of windows that floods the interior with natural light.

It’s quite amazing how Miter Box packs a kitchen and a dining room in its interior and also accommodates two bedrooms at the same time. The secret lies in the construction of the interior. The tiny home interior features a small kitchen equipped with a sink, fridge, and loads of storage. Adjacent is a dinette that turns into a double bed.

A loft bedroom lies above the dinette. Accessed via a removable ladder, the bedroom sleeps two people comfortably. “We named the tiny house Miter Box because it is a work of precision with much attention paid to the finer details,” mention the makers.

Elsewhere is the bathroom which includes a shower and flushing toilet. It’s interesting how the makers have managed to equip these many features in a 150-square-feet dwelling. To read about more such amazing tiny houses, visit our official tiny house page.

I always laugh a bit when I see these tiny homes with a full sized dishwasher. That seems to be a big waste of space.
