The idea of mobile televisions is steaming up in South Korea, while the world waits to adapt to the oncoming wave. LG already has the very exciting StandbyMe series, and Samsung is countering that with the Moving Style Edge, which has already gone on sale in the home country.
By the looks of it, it is not easy to categorize Samsung’s Moving Style Edge as a PC monitor or TV, but that’s essentially the beauty of this display, which stands tall tethered to the mobile stand. It allows you to adjust the screen orientation based on your viewing preference, whether you’re lying on the bed, working from the desk, or consuming content from the relaxing couch in the living room.
Samsung is displaying its Lifestyle Portfolio at the IFA Berlin over this weekend, some of the highlighting products from which include the Bespoke AI Washer, Extractor Induction Hob with integrated high-speed fans, and a part-ready Sound Tower with 18 hours of playtime. It is a given that the Moving Style Edge joins the party with a 4K resolution, 32-inch VA screen with evenly sized bezels on all four sides, making its presence felt for the peaking eyes at the mega event to behold.
From how the Moving Style Edge has been viewed since its release, it has a Samsung Smart Monitor M7 mounted on the moving stand, which comes in a glorious warm white finish. Essentially a PC monitor, it can be used as a standalone TV that you can move about with your needs. The flexibility of the standard 0.81 meters high L-arm that it resides on gives the users the convenience to change its orientation and position. The TV also comes with an I-arm variant for smaller spaces (European households can choose to ponder).
Samsung Moving Style Edge is surely designed with flexibility and mobility in mind, which has been a category that LG has explored. The TV and monitor combo doesn’t shy on its resolution and refresh rates either. Providing both style and convenience, the Samsung TV has a native 4K resolution and offers a 60Hz refresh rate; not too impressive to host your game parties, but substantial enough for a good, lag-free consumption of OTT content.
It goes without saying, the Moving Style Edge TV is powered by the Tizen OS and comes with Bixby in support. It provides a SmartThings Hub and manages your privacy with the Samsung Knox security. The TV covers 72 percent of the NTSC color gamut, and offers a 4ms grey-to-grey response time, whilst featuring a Game Bar onboard. Connectivity on the wired – but moveable – TV is managed by an HDMI 2.0, 27W USB Type C, and a pair of USB Type-A ports. The TV also includes Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 5.
We are still sceptical about the global availability and the pricing details of the Moving Style Edge, but we can confirm from its South Korean product page that the TV is selling in two configurations. In the home country, Samsung is selling it for KRW 879,000 ($630) and KRW 839,000 ($600).
