MSCHF, an art and design collective based in Brooklyn, partnered with the Germany-based vehicle manufacturer Mercedes-AMG to create an unconventional collection of pieces, including furniture, lighting, and accessories. Dubbed MSCHF x AMG: Not For Automotive Use, MSCHF repurposes the auto parts of AMG cars into sculptural pieces, including a couch with headlight armrests, a step-on trash can with car pedals, Seatbelt Light, and more quirky designs.
The MSCHF x AMG: Not For Automotive Use collection is exhibited at NYCxDesign 2025. It is open to the public from May 15 to May 17, at MSCHF’s Brooklyn studio in Greenpoint. The dynamic conceptual collection draws inspiration from Milanese designer Achille Castiglioni, renowned for combining industrial materials and found objects in his works. Let’s explore the collection below.
Headlight Couch
The dramatic Headlight couch is finished in Dinamica suede (a material known for its exceptional quality), European softwood, and upholstered in foam. The armrests of the couch are embedded with headlights with turn signaling included, adding an interactive and playful touch for the users. The couch weighs 60 kilograms (132 lbs).

Seatbelt Table
Next in the line is the Seatbelt Table. The table features a milled, anodized aluminum tabletop, which is set on a tubular powder-coated steel base. For the detailing, an AMG seatbelt and buckles add a vibrant touch to the table. The Seatbelt Table weighs 170 kilograms (374 lbs).

Pedal Trash Can
Made from anodized aluminum and steel, the Pedal Trash Can has an opening system with AMG gas and brake pedals. It is user-friendly; simply long-press the brake pedals to keep the lid open. Weighing 14 kilograms (30 lbs), the Trash Can is compatible with the standard size trash bags.

Headrest Chair
For this piece, three AMG headrests are combined with a channel of yellow, powder-coated tubular steel pipes, providing an upright and ergonomic support. Weighing 12.6 kilograms (27.7 lbs), the backseat of the chair features AMG crest detail, whereas the headrest seamlessly moves up and down for an effortless lumbar support.

Seatbelt Light
Weighing 15 kilograms (33 lbs), the Seatbelt Light is integrated with two in-line LED tubes, which can be turned on/off by buckling and unbuckling the seatbelt. Based on a spring-loaded retractable spool, the seatbelt clip acts as the light’s power switch. Manufactured from anodized aluminum, it emits light in a warm shade of 3000k.

Other pieces from the MSCHF x AMG: Not For Automotive Use collection include Seatbelt Shelf, Seatbelt Rack, Grille Grill, Seatbelt Chair, Wheel Rim Fan, and Seat Back Hanger. The exhibition marks MSCHF’s first time opening the studio for the public since its foundation in 2019. Notably, the pieces in the collection are limited edition, exclusively made to order.
