Austrian smart lock specialist Nuki has developed a specialized module that helps make electromechanical door locks smart without visible hardware. Developed in cooperation with Rehau Window Solutions, the Nuki Smart Module is invisibly integrated into the doors of new construction projects, so you get a completely clean look. Unlike previous retrofit models, this module is installed internally by door manufacturers. A major advantage of this module is its permanent power supply, so you do not have to replace its batteries or manually charge it repeatedly.
What makes the Nuki Smart Module different from a classic smart lock is its full integration into the door. The module requires no visible hardware, and the door design remains untouched. Suitable for electromechanical door locks, it transforms them into a fully keyless smart access solution. It offers Nuki remote access, digital key management, and fully automatic door unlocking for user convenience.
Nuki says the system is modular and can be expanded anytime with accessories like a keypad, allowing access via code, fingerprint, or NFC Tap to Unlock. You can share digital keys with family, guests, or service staff, permanently or temporarily. It also allows you to manage access remotely, receive real-time notifications, and unlock via the app or hands-free Auto Unlock using the Aliro standard.

The Nuki smart module supports the smart home standard Matter, allowing you to integrate it seamlessly into connected homes. It is designed to work smoothly with leading ecosystems such as Apple, Google, Amazon, and Samsung SmartThings.
With this launch, Nuki aims to bring its 5th-Gen smart lock technology into new-build doors. As the new module is integrated directly into the door, the external design is completely retained, and no additional devices are visible. The official launch of the Nuki Smart Module is slated for the fourth quarter of 2026. You can get a first look at the Smart Module at the 2026 Fensterbau Frontale later this month.
