Obel Lamp Collection Finds Inspiration in Monolithic Forms of Egyptian Obelisks

A poetic convergence of the ancient and the futuristic

For Brooklyn-based Virginia Sin, who is a multidisciplinary artist and the creative force behind SIN studio, lighting is a form of storytelling. It has the potential to create soothing and comfortable living spaces. She believes that the place you live should relax you, which is why she makes handcrafted pieces, catering to every aspect of home décor, bringing delight and a sense of comfort into people’s homes. Keeping up with the philosophy, Sin has created the Obel collection of tranquil and sculptural lamps, taking the design cue from ancient Egypt.

Launched at ICFF 2025 during NYCxDesign 2025, the Obel collection reflects the ancient ethos of design, as it draws inspiration from Egyptian obelisks, tall, slender monuments constructed out of reverence for the dead by ancient Egyptians, merging past and future. Sin describes the collection as a ‘poetic convergence of the ancient and the futuristic.’

The collection includes three lamps, each with monolithic qualities, illuminating homes with softness and warmth. Let’s explore the Obel collection below.

Gio Table Lamp

Evoking a sense of wonder, the Gio Table Lamp features smooth lines with a clean, sculptural form. The base of the lamp is made from ceramic. For the handmade element, the ceramic base is paired with a handcrafted paper, fabric, or French parchment shade for a subtle glow.

Whether you keep it on your nightstand, illuminate a study desk, or add a whimsy to your bookshelf, the Gio Table Lamp is perfect to add a little drama to the room. The lamp is available in four shades and four finishes.

Osen Table Lamp (Short)

The base of the lamp is geometrical and resembles the sacred structure of Egyptian obelisks. Made from ceramic, the striking base of the lamp is paired with a handcrafted parchment shade, casting a faint glow. On the other hand, a unique bone ceramic shade is draped with brass ball details, uplifting the form.

You can light up your entryway, let it glow softly on a nightstand, or you can decorate your living space with the aesthetic presence of the lamp. Wherever you place the lamp, it will bring a timeless charm to your favorite corner. The Osen Table Lamp is available in three finishes and two shade options.

Osen Table Lamp (Tall)

The Osen Table Lamp is a taller interpretation of the Osen series. Similar to its shorter version, it takes a hint from the slender shape of Egyptian obelisks, balancing form and function. Made from ceramic, the base of the lamp is long and elongated. This ceramic base is merged with a finely handcrafted French parchment shade or a bone ceramic shade embellished with brass ball accents.

The lamp with its tender glow will lend a character and grace to any room, imbuing it with a sense of charm and wonder. The Osen table lamp (tall) is available in three finishes and two shades.
