Sleep is a never-ending part of everyday life that everybody needs to take care of, but business and varing day-to-day routines of modern life have influenced it in such a way that people are heading towards sleep disorders. And the worst thing is that if you once become affected by a single disorder, it might lead to furious results later, such as chronic snoring which over time leads to sleep apnea which is a terrible disease characterized by continuous breaks in breathing, while you are sleeping.

It’s not that, there is no treatment for it, but due to clingy design and continuous sound generating from the treatment devices, people find them difficult to adapt to them in their everyday life. After realizing the issue, French manufacturer of CPAP (Continuous positive airway pressure) devices, Sefam approached the renowned designer, Philippe Starck to rethink its design. On 27 January 2017, he unveiled the prototype named Sleepbox, a connected machine for treatment of sleep apnea syndrome.

Sefam Sleepbox by Starck is a digital CPAP device that features an elegant, minimal and ergonomic design to motivate patients to take treatments on time. He created an aesthetically-pleasing device to enhance adherence of patients. It has multiple connectivity options including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPRS to operate it through the companion mobile app. Sleepbox stores each bit of operation and apnea data, as well as the residual index of apneas, leaks in the mask, pressure and other concerned health parameters which can be accessed through a mobile app for keeping full track of the treatment.

It has colored indicators to show the effectiveness of the treatment. Frequent messages are delivered to encourage the patient for continuing the treatment. Overall, it is a practical health saving device that improves patient compliance, reduces hospitalization chances, and comorbidities of the sleep apnea. If facing the same problems, then you might be able to see the product in market later in the summer.
