YSG Studio, based in Sydney, Australia, revives a colonial house from the 1900s into a Nature-inspired holiday retreat designed for a family with children. The Plantasia project features an immersive retreat nestled in the rolling hills, surrounded by citrus gardens. Its storybook-style interior accentuates Lynchian atmosphere, creating a truly dream-like getaway.

The interior designer and studio founder, Yasmine Saleh Ghoniem, preserved the original structure of the colonial house while completely transforming its kitchen and bathrooms. The idea behind this architectural project was to visually transform the house within its existing shell and turn plain rooms into an immersive environment.

The attention-grabbing wallpapers are the main highlight of its interior. The designer calls Plantasia a fictional diorama where your curiosity guides you to consecutive rooms. Upon entering, you’ll notice how every room feels like a new chapter in a fairytale story. It feels like stepping into a trippy, psychedelic environment on a theatrical set.

These nature-themed wallpapers envelop the interior with organic charm and create a mesmerizing indoor landscape. The wallpaper-covered walls and ceilings feature 10 different bold and whimsical design patterns of flora and fauna. The uncanny and bold design of the wallpapers meticulously hides the corners and makes the room boundaries feel ambiguous.

A narrow entry opening leads you to the spacious living room of the Plantasia project. The eye-catching botanical wallpaper complements the earthy color palette of the room. The designer organized the core seating area around the striking fireplace, clad with small square pastel tiles arranged in a checkered pattern. Its glossy, jewel-like appearance creates a strong visual tension and contrasts against the nature-themed wallpaper and curtains.

The sculptural furniture and cushioned seating create a cocooning effect, turning the living room into a cozy place. The windows flood the room with bright light and provide stunning views of the lush landscape. The abstract painting on the wall fills the space with a modern artistic vibe. When it comes to the bedrooms, various design elements like striped design on the ceiling, botanical wallpapers, soft lamps, and calming color tones give a different personality to each room.

Unlike other rooms, the bathroom feels quite cheerful as well. The vivid, citrus fruit wallpapers and pastel sherbet yellow bathtub add a zesty, playful touch to the interior. The brass tapware and tiled wall add textural variety to the space. Together, these elements create a miniature botanical world under a canopy of citrus trees.

The Kitchen gives a lovely, handcrafted, and organic feel, with a large, curved kitchen island being the focal point. Clad with timber, its softly rounded edges and stone worktop adds warm and luxurious touch to the kitchen. The cabinetry provides ample storage while the decorative tiles reflect light beautifully.

The Plantasia project is a botanical-themed holiday retreat with decorative interiors. Every room has a unique personality, showcased through nature-inspired wallpapers, artwork, sculptural furniture, and abstract paintings. The beautiful tile decoration make interior feel rich and dynamic, especially when light falls on its surface. If you want an immersive and sensory experience, make sure to make Plantasia your next getaway.
