German luggage brand Rimowa has teamed up with Swiss furniture company Vitra for a conceptual project that transforms its iconic aluminum suitcase into a functional stool. The result is a stylish aluminum stool on wheels, featuring a cushioned seat on top and hidden storage inside. Designed to blend multiple functionalities with timeless style, it reimagines the suitcase as a mobile, multi-purpose object for modern living.
The Aluminum Stool is a mobile cube crafted from Rimowa’s signature grooved aluminum and fitted with the brand’s smooth-gliding multiwheel system for effortless movement. Inside, it opens to reveal a plush, fabric-lined interior. The cushioned seat is upholstered by Vitra using eco-friendly Laser RE fabric, known for its durability, easy maintenance, and abrasion resistance.
The stool’s lid features a detachable seat cushion available in three colors (Emerald Green, Ice Blue, and Papyrus Brown) to match your style. The cushion is attached to the lid with snap buttons and can be removed for cleaning.
The Rimowa Vitra Aluminum Stool features elegant pullers made from premium cowhide leather that smoothly slide into the aluminum hook. Inside, two removable leather dividers allow for flexible organization to store magazines, documents, bottles, or other personal items. As seen in the photos, it is designed for office settings, where it serves as both secure storage and a comfortable seat.
