New Zealand is a fun place to be, with its beauty and a great quality of life. With more people drifting toward a minimalistic lifestyle, the Down Under nation has also become a hot hub for tiny house manufacturers. Builders like Shaye’s Tiny Homes and Build Tiny have capitalized on the trend and have made and sold loads of tiny houses in the country. We’re going to talk about one such home today. Dubbed Rourou Iti tiny house, the 26-foot-long dwelling prioritizes simplicity and doesn’t have any fancy incorporation of luxurious appliances or furnishing within.

The home is based on a simple principle, ‘you don’t need more space, you need less stuff,’ which is evident in its minimalistic yet functional layout. Built on a double-axle trailer, the tiny house is clad in vinyl, while the interior is finished in lightweight poplar core plywood.

Upon entering, the visitors are graced by a small living room equipped with a sofa and a side table. Nearby is a large kitchen that contains a breakfast bar for two. The kitchen is adorned with extensive bamboo bench tops, which give loads of space for food preparation. It is comparatively large when compared with other models designed by the company.

The kitchen also features an array of appliances from a microwave and a four-burner propane-powered stove to an oven and fridge/freezer to be installed later. Not to mention cabinetries and shelves that keep items organized. On the opposite end of the kitchen is the bathroom. The space includes a shower, sink, and composting toilet. Other feature includes a washer/dryer and laundry area.

The tiny house features two loft bedrooms. Access to the lofts is gained via a central step ladder with built-in storage. Rourou Iti tiny house bridges the gap between lofts courtesy of a walkway that connects the two bedrooms. “From the top of the stairs you can walk between the two lofts comfortably along a walking platform that floats above the couch downstairs,” mentions the company.

Speaking of lofts, they sleep a minimum of three people combined. The master loft has ample built-in storage, while the second loft features a single bed and a study nook with a recessed floor section to make sitting at the desk super comfortable. This space is ideal for kids while the parents can sleep in the master loft.
