One of the favorite childhood memories is the time we used to spend jumping on the inflated bouncy balloons. Seoul-based designer Seung Jin Yang is bringing back the nostalgia in form of his latest collection of seating objects called ‘blowing series.’ Using technicolor party balloons, Yang has actually created functional furniture that is just perfect for both children and adults.

Yang was influenced by the idea of converting his beloved childhood memories into the fabrication process of industrial furniture making. So, he decided to make these eye-catching furniture designs. Firstly, the balloons are filled with air into the desired shapes and sizes, after that these individual inflated pieces were assembled to form glossy chairs, armrests and stools.

When a particular furniture piece is in its stable configuration, the epoxy resin is poured all over it, repeating this process eight different times. Due to this repeated processing, the balloons form glossy rigid and durable structure for seating. The resulting furniture pieces are sturdy enough to hold body weight of any individual, whether a child or an adult.

We agree that inflated furniture is not new to the world, as various blown-up sofas and air-filled mattresses can easily be seen in the market. However, to literally turn party balloons into useful furniture is something interesting, allowing you to fill any living space with splashing bright colors. If you’re looking to add some lively touch to your interior, then these colorful seating units are definitely a great option. Find out more about Yang’s work on his official website.
