Living in a tiny house has now become a social movement across the globe. But when Marjolein Jonker from the Netherlands decided to hop on to the trend, many challenges came upfront. She had to seek special permission from her city council to live in the house full-time. That’s when her tiny dwelling came into the picture and made her the first person in the Netherlands to legally live small!

Marjolein Jonker kept it simple and went for a basic design for her tiny house on wheels. A high ceiling layout that spans over 172 sq ft, compactly packs in a living space, kitchen, bathroom and a loft space too. Thermally-treated softwood is used for building the house entirely. Powered by solar panel setup and sheep’s wool for insulation, the dwelling aids your off-grid journeys too.

Embracing an attractive cottage look, this tiny house was built by Dimka Wentzel of Tiny-House.nl. The expanse is spacious enough to sport a large deck to make the living more harmonious. French doors lead your way straight into a large and open living area. Three skylights – two in the lounge area and one in the loft – ensure the house is flushed with natural light and fresh air.

Upon entrance toward the left, you can spot a cute yet comfortable L-shaped lounge area. A wood-burning stove sits nearby to keep the house warm. Opposite it lies a spacious kitchen which includes modern appliances like an oven, a countertop, a fridge/freezer, and a deep sink.

Stairs with integrated storage maximize the usage and lead the way directly to a small loft. Lit with a skylight for those dreamy nights, this space includes a double bed and some storage options too. A composting toilet with basic amenities is snuggled right below the loft. Marjolein spent nearly $36,993 to have her dream house built from scratch, starting way back in 2015.
