Sony Electronics has expanded its BRAVIA projector lineup with the new BRAVIA Projector 7 (VPL-XW5100ES) for 2025 and it is the lowest brightness model in the series. Featuring the BRAVIA XR Processor, which also powers the company’s latest QD-OLED TV, the new projector offers enhanced image processing for superior picture quality. Equipped with a long-lasting laser light source, it provides up to 2,200 lumens of brightness to deliver crystal-clear images even in well-lit spaces.

The BRAVIA Projector 7 utilizes the same technology used in the existing BRAVIA Projectors 9 and 8. The onboard XR Processor provides four powerful picture features – XR Dynamic Tone Mapping, XR Deep Black, XR TRILUMINOUS PRO, and XR Clear Image – to deliver a professional-grade cinematic experience.

The XR Dynamic Tone Mapping analyzes peak brightness frame by frame and delivers optimal tone mapping to display images with rich gradation, high brightness, and brilliant colors. Meanwhile, XR Deep Black controls laser dimming in dark scenes to deliver deeper blacks while maintaining tone and color accuracy. It also boosts power efficiency by dynamically optimizing laser output for each frame.

The XR Triluminos Pro feature upscales all imagery to 4K quality with restored texture and detail, while XR Clear Image technology enhances textures and minimizes noise. The XR Processor sharpens key focal points to provide clear, engaging images in different scenes.

BRAVIA Projector 7 is also compatible with IMAX Enhanced content for a more immersive viewing experience. It comes pre-configured for cinematic color and gamma but there are also extensive adjustment and calibration options. Corner Keystone Correction and Lens Shift features make installation easy, even in tricky spaces.

The new Wide Dynamic Range Optics in the projector achieves up to 95 percent DCI-P3 wide color gamut. With HDMI 2.1 support, Auto Low Latency Mode, and 12ms response time at 4K/120fps, gamers can enjoy minimal lag during gameplay with full details.

The 4K projector works with major home automation systems like Control4, Crestron, Savant, and AMX. Another cool feature is the new Aspect Scaling Mode allows flexible viewing with a single tap. Users can easily switch between 2.35:1 and 16:9 formats on Cinemascope screens without adjusting the lens.

Sony has not yet revealed any details about the pricing and availability of the BRAVIA 7 4K laser projector.
