Materials Needed:

- Gloves
- Oil-based spray primer
- White chalk spray paint
- Permanent marker
- Clear sealer
- Cleaning brush
Instructions for DIY Spooky Painted Ghost Pumpkins
- If you are using real pumpkins, wash them with one part bleach and ten parts water mix. You need to soak them for at least 15 to 20 minutes in the solution that you have created. Soaking pumpkins will disinfect the surface and make them last longer outdoors. Make sure they are completely dry before the next step. You can skip this step for faux pumpkins
- Now, it’s time to take things outdoors. Spray an even coat of white oil-based spray primer on each pumpkin. Then, spray paint each pumpkin again with white chalk spray paint. Remember, you can use any type of paint but spray paint saves a lot of time and works faster
- Once the paint has fully dried, here comes the fun part of drawing faces. Get kids and adults to paint funny faces on each pumpkin with a black permanent marker
- You don’t have to draw perfect faces, they can be goofy, silly, cute, and creepy. Just let each family member draw features in their own unique style and let them enjoy
- If you want the paint to stay for a long time, then you can spray a clear sealer once the painting part is complete, though it’s entirely optional if you have a good covered outdoor area to display them. Otherwise, coating them is wise if you want them to last the entire holiday season
Once done, it’s time to decorate your porch, entrance, or you can line them up on stairs to welcome trick-or-treaters and guests. This painted ghost pumpkins DIY is the perfect addition to your Halloween decoration. Well, have a good time painting a bunch of pumpkins together and happy Halloween!
