I have always been fascinated by flat-pack furniture designs. In that category, I recently came across this simple yet innovative design that combines the practicality of a stool with the facility of a bookshelf, all in one assemblable unit! This is Tai Stool designed by Sunriu Design based in Kaohsiung City of Taiwan. Tai looks very similar to the Walle stool, a multipurpose furniture piece for apartment dwellers.

The stool is made from four different components which can be assembled using screws and bolts, presumably without any tools. The two-tiered layout of the Tai replicates the design of Taiwanese temples and looks artistic when brought together.

The upper part of the Tai Stool is conceived in plywood along with its lower metal section which when assembled creates space to store books or gadgets. This means that the foundation of the Tai Stool is of metal and plywood has been used sparingly for a nice finish.

The seat of the Tai Stool is slightly contoured for comfortable sitting. The lower section is also curved at both ends which creates space to hold books or notepads in a vertical position. The lower segment is simply placed using an attachable and detachable design without the need for any fixtures like screws. It can hold a handful of books on a bookshelf lying horizontally. Overall, I would say Tai stool brings us a pretty usable design that serves as a stool cum mini bookshelf.

What do you think about Tai Stool and its design? I think there is a good probability of this design coming into shape in the near future. I would certainly buy a stool like this if it is available to purchase. Sunriu Design also has some other interesting designs which are a mix of creativity and furniture efficacy, you can check them out on their Instagram handle.
