Created in collaboration with Mumbai-based collectible design gallery æquō, the Tarang furniture collection by Kelly Wearstler explores how materials and tradition evolve through heat, time, and human hand. The furniture collection, featuring a chair, a stool, and a bench, honors years-old techniques while bringing them into the modern design world. Intriguing and interesting in shape, the furniture pieces look rhythmic in their form.

Sculpted entirely by hand, each piece in the collection is first carved from teak into its organic, fluid form and then burned to deepen the texture and add more character. Bronze cast touch is later applied to highlight the curves of the pieces. The pieces merge centuries-old traditions and culture with modern designs, showcasing a delicate balance between strength and elegance.

The Tarang chair is a sculptural piece designed for resting your back. With an arched base, the chair features a contoured seat along with a low back. The bronze detailing adds a subtle charm to the silhouette of the chair. It is impressive and invites you to pause the everyday ruckus.

The Tarang bench has a free, wave-like pattern carved into wood. It looks like three Tarang backless chairs welded together. Hand-carved from solid wood and then burnt to deepen the grain, the cured base sits below a broad rhythmic surface. The bronze accentuates the light and dark surfaces, displaying interplay between dark and light.

The last piece of the collection is a stool, which looks exactly like the Tarang chair, just without the backrest. All the pieces of the Tarang furniture collection offer a landscape where fire meets wood and structure coexists with fluidity.
