The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, beloved New York City Halloween event, returns for its 21st edition with 7,000 carved pumpkins. What began as a modest community event in Croton on Hudson, a famous New York town, back in 2005, has now evolved into a full-blown artistic showcase. This year, the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze is ‘completely reimagined,” with thousands of ornately hand-carved pumpkins lighting up the town.
The pumpkin paradise just north of the city promises an experiential ride with multiple new displays, including intricate carvings of New York State landmarks, impressive classic video game icons, and a whimsical hillside Wizard of Oz scene. Like previous editions, this year’s Blaze will include illuminated Jack-o’-lanterns spread throughout the landscape of Van Cortlandt Manor in various themed areas.
The 2025 edition of the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze offers life-sized dinosaurs, the 24-foot spider web, stargazing in the Pumpkin Planetarium, and a working carousel. While exploring the event, you can relax at Gourd & Goblet Tavern, a popular VIP experience, indulge in fall-themed sweets and snacks at Café Blaze, or browse the Blaze Boo-tique to get exclusive souvenirs and local finds.
The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze is running from September 12 through November 16, with tickets starting at $24. All proceeds from the Blaze and other Halloween events go to Historic Hudson Valley, a non-profit education organization.
