Concern about the safety of buildings, as well as of human life after the Christchurch earthquake and the deteriorating economic conditions has forced many residents to come up with new ideas. This also prompted builder Paul Hennessy, of Park Homes in Christchurch, New Zealand to start exploring options that can assure safe dwelling places, and at the same time they are affordable.

Paul came up with the idea of building small, affordable ‘Starter Home’ and eventually build this small home on wheels. This ultra-modern 43 x 10 feet tiny house is constructed according to the Passive House Principles. The significant feature of this tiny abode is that it’s completely earthquake resistant, thanks to the arrangement of wheels underneath.

Exterior of this trailer home is as impressive as its earthquake resistance ability. Its shiny black covering is actually aluminum composite panel (ACP), which is considered to be fire proof and durable. The wall are made of structural insulated panels (SIPs). Also, there’s a dog house under the stairs, which leads to the main entrance of the house.

Interior of this tiny home includes hallways and corridors, which makes it look much larger – thanks to Paul’s wife Pascale. Stepping inside the house, the first thing you notice is a minimalist kitchen and a living room, spacious enough for a comfortable living. The hallway leads you to the bathroom, a working place and a bedroom that contains queen size bed with ample storage space under the mattress.

This trailer tiny house on wheels is not portable, but can be maneuvered around on the same ground on which it’s positioned. It however can be relocated in some different location, but requires to be lifted and carried away on a truck.
