Based in Cornwall, UK, Studio Haran is a furniture and lighting brand that crafts products with innovation and sustainability at its core. Founders Joel and Helena, along with their skilled team, recently debuted the Towan wall light at Clerkenwell Design Week 2025. Made in the heart of Cornwall, it is a beautiful piece of lighting for homes and offices inspired by the ripples in sand.

Towan wall light takes its name from the Cornish word ‘Towan’ meaning sand dune. Not to mention, that most of the local beaches in Cornwall are named with the similar word, thus making the wall light rather an emotional, ambitious, and personal work for the makers.

The team has long been inspired by the way water and wind shape the sand and leave patterns and wrinkles behind. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, they created this wall light that beautifully displays the simple yet complicated beauty of ripples in sand shaped by tidal water.

Crafted in oak and walnut, the designers combine technology and fine craftsmanship to replicate the exactness of sand ripples onto the wooden surface. These textured details and wrinkles on the wooden surface are quite evident and tangible, evoking a feeling of being in nature, whereas the light emits a soft glow, creating a soothing ambiance in home and work spaces.

The Towan wall light is perfect for adding a touch of nature and authenticity to the walls. The woodwork makes the light adaptable to both modern and rustic interiors with warm and comforting light. The cherry on top is the light’s simple design that is effortless to arrange and overlay, allowing customers to create their own installations.

Towan is a part of the brand’s Sandscape collection, including Porth pendant, along with ceramic versions in speckled cream matte glaze that are yet to be introduced. Notably, customers can pre-order the lights that will be up on Studio Haran’s website by mid-June.
