The best thing about every creation is the story it narrates about its creator or their thought process. You don’t even need to meet the artist in person; you can feel their vibe, their story, their ethos sitting oceans away. That’s the power of art and artists, which is exactly what we feel about this one-of-a-kind furniture. Dubbed Tree Table, it is the brainchild of Washington-based Greg Klassen, who is well-known for his stunning river table designs.

A culmination of five years in making, this well-designed piece of furniture explores the dynamic relationship between nature and the world of architecture. It is the epitome of what nature can offer: from inspiration, peace of mind, to natural materials. The configurations of the table feature a rectilinear and cantilevered open cabinet. But the highlight is the tree stump sitting within the cabinet, appearing as if a tree is growing out of it.

Making his love for trees and nature evident, Klassen has constructed the tree from western red cedar. Exhibiting fluid forms, warm and organic texture, the tree retains its organic essence with noticeable cracks and bumps hammered by nature. The cabinet is constructed from figured Oregon black walnut, completing the form and adding a sculptural quality to the entire structure. The warm wood grain and soothing touches thrive seamlessly in this furniture.

These intricate details are surely entertaining, but what’s more interesting is the functionality the table offers. Despite being an aesthetic and sculptural piece, the Tree Table preserves its functional purpose. It is as useful as any other regular table in your home, minus the boring element.

You can use it to display your books, art, or any other antique in your home that needs a place. If that’s not enough, a spacious drawer at the bottom of the table with the artist’s initials can be a space to keep your stationery and other important items organized. This thoughtfully designed table highlights the importance and beauty of the ‘Slow Furniture’ movement, which embraces the ethos of intentional creation in harmony with nature.

Whether you keep the Tree Table against a wall, behind a sofa, or in the middle of a room, it will remain a center of attraction. Priced at $22,800, even you won’t be able to keep your eyes away from the details that draw you to the wild.
