Camping in the wild is fun, except if you are inside a flimsy camper with a hungry grizzly bear snarling and scratching at the vehicle so fiercely that sooner or later it will rip through the sidewalls. You know where this is going. Unless you have the ELE off-grid camper that withstands a bear attack, it is wise to not be a hero and drive away as fast as you can.

Your chances of survival depend on only one factor whether you were able to get out of your camper and make it to the cab or not. If you have a normal teardrop trailer, chances of your survival are slim to none. But if you have TrekTwo all-terrain camper as your priced possession, you need not outrun at all because you can sneak through the emergency pass-through trap door of the camper that will take you to the driver’s seat and allow you to cut loose. We’ll talk about this in detail but first let’s have a quick look at other features.

A product of World Travel Vehicles (WTV), a newcomer trailer manufacturer from Durango, Colorado, the TrekTwo all-terrain camper is compatible with the ever-popular Toyota Tacoma midsize truck. While not as sleek as traditional Toyota Chinook models, the TrekTwo offers agility and compactness compared to larger expedition trucks, ensuring comfort even on difficult terrains.

The ‘sandwich-composite hard wall’ of the trailer naturally commands attention, but it’s the interior that truly distinguishes the TrekTwo from other camper trailers. Beyond its dramatic Trapdoor/Emergency Exit feature, the interior of the camper provides a comfortable haven suited for rugged outdoor stays.

Inside, visitors are treated to a blend of rustic charm and modern amenities. Some of the major highlights include a well-appointed kitchen near the rear entrance featuring a sink, expansive countertop, and a dual-burner gas stove (not visible in pictures) strategically positioned for optimal use.

The camper also incorporates a high-mounted 80-L compressor refrigerator alongside a step-up dinette beneath the cabover bed offering a cozy space for meals. The dinette can further be utilized as a single bed (optional upgrade). The main bed, elevated for storage underneath, features a Froli spring system for added comfort. It sleeps three people with ease.

As aforementioned, the most notable feature of the TrekTwo is its innovative “emergency pass-through,” a rare inclusion that allows swift access from the camper’s compartment to the driver’s cab via a trapdoor beneath the bed. This practical addition enhances safety and efficiency, particularly in urgent situations such as a bear encounter.

The camper also boasts a wet bathroom. Adorned with supreme finishes like a stone backsplash and wood shower floor, the bathroom is compact yet highly functional. In addition, the bathroom features a composting toilet and a retractable sink.

No camper is complete without a standard electrical setup. TrekTwo camper includes a 400-Ah lithium battery, 3,500-W inverter/mains charger, Victron charge boosters linked to the truck’s alternator, and 450W of solar panels. Optional upgrades include an induction cooktop and a larger 600-Ah battery. The model with a Toyota Tacoma base was recently exhibited at the Overland Expo West 2024 and the company touts it cost $295,000.
