CES always brings forth the latest tech from the TV industry. This year, mini-LED TVs dominated the stage with on-device AI features promising to enhance the overall experience. Wireless TVs were also present at the event: Although, we saw battery-powered wireless TVs that lower the clutter of wires; the trendsetters – in the domain – for the year are surely the wireless connectivity boxes.
LG Wireless Connectivity Box w/ 144Hz Refresh Rate
LG has been gradually transitioning from HDMI connectivity to a wireless connection box for the past few years now. The company offers a lifestyle OLED TV with a wireless connectivity solution capable of real-time video and audio transmission at up to 4K 120Hz. For 2025, LG has added its True Wireless 4K technology to its QNED Evo lineup of TVs. The latest Zero Connect Box is capable of transmitting high-definition video at up to 4K resolution and a refresh rate of 144Hz.
LG’s wireless TV is not totally wireless – you still need to power it with a cable. The wireless connection box also needs to be powered from an outlet. Even though both the units are powered separately, you don’t require a connection between them. You can put the TV wherever you want in the living room without a mess of boxes and cables nearby.
The wireless Zero Connect Box can be placed separately up to 10 meters away and it can still handle all the connections wirelessly. You will be able to connect or disconnect devices without having to reach behind the TV or struggle with the mess of cables. You can simply connect your Xbox or external soundbar to the wireless connect box and it transmits signal to the TV wirelessly. The LG Zero Connect Box gives users the ability to manage all connected devices in a more convenient and well-organized manner.

Samsung Updates its One Connect Box to Compete
Samsung has also come up with a Wireless One Connect Box for its 2025 lineup of TVs. The 2024 One connect Box required two cables but both the devices were powered through just the One Connect Cable. However, there was a catch – the wireless box and the TV still needed to be connected with a separate cable.
The 2025 Samsung Wireless One Connect Box follows the similar approach that LG has implemented. Now, you will need to power the wireless connection box and the TV separately, which means you will need two power outlets. You now have the freedom to place the box wherever you want in the living room but if you are one of those who keeps them close together – it is going to be a mess of wires again by your TV.
A key concern is how well the audio/video data is transferred wirelessly. Will there be any kind of lag from the box to the TV? Samsung is offering its latest The Frame Pro with Wireless One Connect box and we will get to know more about it when the Frame comes to the market.
Final Thoughts
No matter what – it is great to see display tech getting better with wireless transmission; however, some people are still happy with HDMI ports. In the end, it is fair to say that having one wire is better than a whole bunch of wires next to your TV. However, keep in mind that this wireless functionality comes at a premium that you can invest in a bigger, better TV. After all, sticking to a single feature is not the best choice always.
