Italian mini-yacht company Jet Capsule unveiled its floating UFO (Unidentified Floating Objects) off-grid home concept earlier this year. Now the design firm is back with its updated and improved second version houseboat called UFO 2.0, which is expected to be available in 2018.

Features

Like its predecessor, the UFO 2.0 is also a flying saucer-shaped houseboat. It would be built out of fiberglass and carbon fiber with a total surface of 314-square-meter. Spanning 20-meters in diameter, the luxurious floating home seems to be coming straight out of a sci-fi movie and designed to let you sleep with the fishes – all thanks to its submerged bedroom.

This latest houseboat prototype now has three levels. The first level includes the kitchen and bathroom, whereas the upper levels accommodate a hot tub, a desk and seating, and the controls to maneuver it. The submerged level houses a large bedroom and bathroom to check out the local sea life.

Sustainable floating home

For maximum speed of up to 10 mph, Jet Capsule is planning to install twin engines into the UFO 2.0. Moreover, the sustainable water home would get its electricity from a combination of solar panels, wind power, and water turbine. The harvested energy would further be connected to a 16 battery array for later use.

The UFO 2.0 will be taken to the desired location with the help of helicopters. Apart from luxury homes and hotels, this new version can also be used as a floating restaurant or a gym. This means a beautiful water resort can be also be formed by placing various UFO 2.0 floating homes together.

Availability

Jet Capsule is even planning to launch a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for its latest model. If all goes as per their plan, then we would definitely be able to see the first models sailing on the oceans in early 2018.
