Dutch designer Basten Leijh in collaboration with UK-based furniture manufacturer Royal Ahrend has created Recharged, a roundish public bench with wireless charging facility. Its entire structure sits on three short legs and three people can sit around to wait and charge their phones. With its soft cushioned seat, it appears to be a comfortable and welcoming seating. This urban public furniture piece works just like the solar-powered Soofa bench, except it uses wireless charging to ease people charge their smartphones without using any cables. Recharged public bench is especially useful for large public spaces such as museums, waiting rooms, airports, and other stations.

The central charging area of the bench is made of HI-MACS, a rare material developed by LG Hausys for making furniture, buildings and other household things. It proves to be an ideal connector and through its non-porous structural properties, it stays resistant to stains or scratches. When this innovative material is combined with a colorful cushion, it comes out as a pleasing, easy-to-clean public furniture piece.

The wireless charging function is created and integrated into the HI-MACS station by the Dutch company Zens. Since, induction technology is integrated into the acrylic stone surface, it would be less exposed to water, scratches and other dangers, which would further ensure longetivity of this furniture piece. Furthermore, the Recharged public bench can also be customized by adding light points or bright spots that spread a warm red light to make it even more pleasant. It is indeed a unique public seating solution with cool looks and functionality to meet the current needs in large contract spaces.
