Amazon accidentally revealed cheaper Echo Dot on Twitter

Amazon Echo’s official Twitter account recently made a blunder, which has given hope to the followers that soon a new and cheaper version of Echo Dot will be hitting the market shelves. On Monday, the Amazon Echo Twitter account seemed to announce that, “Introducing the all-new Echo Dot. Add Alexa to any room — now for just $49.99.”

But this tweet, announcing all-new, cheaper Echo Dot, was deleted as quickly as it went out. May be company’s social media team is trying to drum up public interest in the Alexa-powered speaker, or someone just revealed the news a bit too early.

Usually, “post-then-delete” is a common tactic used by celebrities to increase curiosity among their fans. Do you remember that the tech titan also accidentally posted an iPhone 7 accessories landing page just before Apple announced the product on stage?

The post announcing cheaper Echo Dot was caught by @Indypodcaster, and it says the new Echo Dot will set you back $50 — $40 less than the original one’s price. However, if you click the link it takes to the original Echo Dot listing that has been sold out since July.

For those who live under the rock – the original Amazon Echo is an Alexa-powered device that gives traditional Bluetooth speakers the power to respond to voice commands. The cost of the original Dot is $89.99. But this accidental tweet about a cheaper version of Echo Dot has given high hopes to the people, who missed the original device.
