The chair is an essential piece of furniture that brings form and functionality to home or office but we can’t carry it along to every place unless it is foldable. Digging into the problem, a startup named Astride Bionix has come up with an ergonomic wearable chair weighing slightly more than a kilogram, making it easy to put on and place anywhere.
Dubbed LEX, it is a folding exoskeleton designed to let you sit comfortably anywhere. It automatically adjusts to your body posture to create a natural resting position where the back remains upright while thighs bend forward with feet firmly placed on the ground to reduce the burden on the buttock.
The LEX wearable chair consists of two aluminum arms that fold and retract to solve the purpose. Combining aircraft-grade aluminum frame and memory foam, they have created a seat that can be worn around the waist and can withstand up to 120 kgs of weight. Just buckle up the straps around your body like a belt or backpack and it is ready to go anywhere with you. It folds up to be a part of your leg, giving you full freedom of movement.
There’s an onboard load distribution module that shifts 50 percent of the weight of backpack from shoulders to the body to ensure comfort during travel and commuting.
It works while you are sitting at a metro station or bus stop. In addition, the wearable chair can be rolled up and hung to the wall with an onboard hook.

Currently, the startup is raising funds for the project on Kickstarter to bring it to life. You can back the project by pledging a minimum of $297 and book your unit. The chair comes in four different colors and three sizes to match your body type and lifestyle.
