We all think of giving the best facilities to our children, some people think totally out of the box for it. Case in point a grandfather from Cascais, Portugal who wanted to give his grandchildren a simple, private and nature-inspired space to play and has thus built a backyard treehouse for them.

He wanted them to connect with nature and create memorable moments with friends and family, and this treehouse lets them do just that in its own unique manner.

He commissioned Madeiguincho architectural bureau to create a 15-square-meter treehouse that will serve as a playhouse for his grandchildren.

The treehouse is built from SIP panels and has a cedar-shingled roof. Accessed through a staircase, it stands supported by three trees that can be seen passing through the floor and ceiling of the structure.

Its all-wood construction gives it a pleasant natural charm and keeps the living space environmentally friendly for kids. The charred wood exterior is finished with linseed oil for a fresh and raw texture. In contrast, the interior boasts a cleaner and warmer natural wood texture.

The treehouse also sees ample natural light and ventilation through its large windows and skylight. The design team has incorporated safety features like handrails with wire mesh and has built balconies on two sides of the treehouse, which collectively prevent kids from any mishap.

This backyard treehouse has enough space for kids to jump around, read, or play games with friends. It is their own fortress where they are the only kings and queens. These kids are really lucky to have such a caring grandfather.
