Ever had a thought of getting away from the concrete jungle to get lost in the wilderness for a while? Located in the hills of North Carolina, this earth house just like the one seen in The Hobbit series, is perfect for your stint in the wilderness when you seek adventure and inner peace.

Situated in a meadow of Weaverville, North Carolina, this unique yet stunning house is called ‘Hobbithenge’ because its front pillars look like Stonehenge. It is so quiet in here that you may feel you’re living under a snowdrift. The surroundings and ambiance make it an ideal place for meditation and healing.

This house has been handcrafted with clay and wood sourced locally, along with jewels of stained glass that add to its beauty. Despite being small in size, the earth home is pretty spacious with its own kitchen and toilet.

The place has an indoor fireplace, a kitchen where guests can cook their own meal, while a queen-sized bed is placed in the loft. Other amenities available include a gas heater, a wood stove, a loveseat and a desk. The place has no Wi-Fi or television but the view from this earth house is breathtaking.

However, it is not suitable for everyone especially for those who have high standards for cleanliness or want to travel with their kids. Being built from clay and wood, the place has dust and spiders. Privacy in the shower is minimal and guests only have access to cold water.  There are no smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and smoking, partying and pets are also not allowed on the property.

Yet, if you want to experience living in an earth house, you can check into the Hobbithenge for £63 (approx. $87) a night through Airbnb.
