If you throw ergonomics out of the window for a second, Wings leisure chair is something I’d like to own, flaunt and sit upon. Designed by Wei Jingye and Wu Yanxia, it is designed as a leisure chair that sports a unique bionic modelling inspired by butterfly wings. Taking inspiration from a butterfly in flight, the chair has got two wings as the backrest.

The design team has utilized 3D printing integral forming technology to breathe life into a solid plastic object. Its backrest and double-decker legs are responsible for a totally unique appearance. Furthermore, blue translucent plastic material adds to the beauty of the furniture.

The armrests are connected to the seat, making it easier and comfortable for people to sit in. The outer sides of the chair has striated concave-convex texture to match wing pattern of a butterfly and increase friction of the seat as well. The seat surface on both sides is open which is more comfortable for people to sit down.

Measuring 25 inches in length, 27 inches in breadth and 31 inches in height, the Wings chair is suitable for home environment as well as restaurants, pubs and hotels. I’d recommend purposefully using it for interior decoration, since I can’t assure you how ergonomic it would actually be.

The Wings chair wants people feel and experience the existence of life in solid objects. It seeks to combine the organic combination of solid seat mechanism and butterfly vitality.
