We are moving towards an era in tech where people don’t love the mere idea of settling with functional objects and want every gadget to carry an aesthetic appeal with them. LG Electronics (LG) understands this paradigm shift in a consumer mentality and has been creating visually-pleasing appliances over the years. Enter the ARTCOOL Gallery air conditioner that hides behind a 27-inch LCD screen and features LG’s upgradable options.

LG’s ARTCOOL Gallery air conditioners are a thing of the past but the South Korean multinational electronic company has been launching iterations from time to time. Whereas the previous versions of the ARTCOOL Gallery air conditioners only featured a front-facing bezel, the new version boasts a 27-inch LCD screen further bordered by the photo frame.

While the entire photo frame structure looks square in size, the LCD screen is undeniably rectangular. Instead of just manually sliding artwork in and out, the new version allows you to display personalized content that matches your interior. Apart from general displays, the user can even exhibit their own array of photos. All this is possible courtesy of LGs ThinQ app compatible with the item. LG states, “Users can select from a growing range of gorgeous, static and animated images.” This gives the user an option to display something new every time.

Moving on to its functional aspect, ARTCOOL Gallery obviously runs as an air conditioner, but somehow lacks front vents. My guess is that the air will be pumped out through the sides, which is why LG mentions ‘3-way indirect airflow’ in their press release. The AC also makes the best use of a DUAL inverter compressor which helps reduce white noise.

Furthermore, all this is complemented by LG’s newly-implemented AI Dry feature that automatically removes moisture formed inside. The company touts, “their latest model uses up to 70 percent less power than a conventional residential air conditioner.” Well, we will have to figure that out later, once it gets exhibited at CES 2023.
