British Columbia-based builder Summit Tiny Homes has a repute for offering eclectic custom dwellings. Take its Nysos tiny house, which was custom-made for a book lover. The Modern Minimalist by Summit is yet another example of how the builder outfits a tiny house to suit individual clients’ needs. Designed for a small family of four with two kids, the Modern Minimalist tiny house is built with a ground-level bedroom split in half to create two separate kids’ rooms and a gooseneck master bedroom.

Measuring 40-foot-long, 8.5-foot-wide, and 13.5-foot-high, the Modern Minimalist offers 320 square feet of living space. The exterior of the micro-dwelling is clad in black and green aluminum siding, offset with the bright yellow French doors.

The Modern Minimalist lives up to its name. Its concrete floors are offset with birch plywood accents throughout the house. Inside, an L-shaped kitchen welcomes you. The minimalist kitchen has black cabinetry, concrete overlay countertops, a refrigerator, a sink, a ventilation hood, and a couple of overhead shelves and cabinets. The custom dwelling doesn’t have any cooktop or oven, but it can be outfitted with several cooktop options, depending on your choice.

Opposite the cooking area, the living room has a custom L-shaped couch with storage underneath that can transform into a guest bed. There is a wall-mounted table that folds down to create a workspace or breakfast bar and neatly tucks back in after use as if a part of the wall.

Past the living room, the kids’ bedrooms occupy one end of the home. It consists of a room, split in half vertically to create one loft – accessible via a fixed ladder – above the ground-floor bedroom. Both sections can house twin beds each with plenty of room to play.

The other end of the house is occupied by the bathroom and the gooseneck. The full bathroom is down the hall from the kitchen. It has a hexagon tile shower, a compositing toilet, a vanity sink, and a washer and dryer.

The gooseneck bedroom is tucked behind a typical door and has a short flight of stairs. It features a king-size bed with space for some regular bedroom furniture such as nightstands and a cabinet or two.

Since the Modern Minimalist tiny house is custom-built, the pricing is unknown. For reference, the builder mentions the pricing for a 20-foot tiny house starts at CAD 150,000 (approx. $110,000), whereas the pricing for any micro-dwelling above 36 feet will depend on customization upgrades.
