SaloneSatellite is not just reshaping local and global design; it is a reflection of the natural evolution of the field. Staying true to its mission, the platform continues to serve as a vital meeting ground for young designers under 35 and entrepreneurs.

The young designers who participate to SaloneSatellite, all those across the globe, haven’t fundamentally changed over the years. Instead, what we witness is an ongoing “evolution” of design. As the world shifts, creativity adapts, evolving in response to emerging challenges and opportunities. In recent years, we’ve seen the digital revolution, sustainability, and ecological concerns shape and refine the design landscape. However, at its core, this progress is still driven by the innate creativity of the human spirit.

For over 25 years, SaloneSatellite has been a platform showcasing the creativity of young talent from around the world. More than 14,000 designers from 58 countries have exhibited their ideas and prototypes, alongside contributions from more than 310 international design schools and universities representing 53 nations. Many of these emerging designers have gone on to become renowned names in the industry, working for many companies, museums, art auctions thanks to their innovative approaches and fresh perspectives. Some others became entrepreneurs and are now exhibitors showing in Salone del Mobile.Milano.

Today’s young designers face a new set of challenges compared to their counterparts 10 or 15 years ago, particularly in the realms of social responsibility, ecological sustainability, and economic balance. For instance, while the conversation around ecology and sustainability was almost non-existent 25 years ago, concepts like reuse and new materials were already being explored. Design evolves in line with the changing sensitivities and realities of each generation, with each individual contributing in their own unique way.

For example, I believe that the idea of the future among young designers is different today than it was 25 years ago. I believe they are probably less dreamers and more practical people because of the idea of a future that is almost present.

SaloneSatellite, at the end, continues to act as a catalyst for this transformation, ensuring that young talent remains at the forefront of reshaping both local and global design.
