Tree tents, also known as hammock tents offer a unique kind of accommodation that lets you sleep above the ground in mid-air. Many brands are making such suspended camping tents, however, a Switzerland-based company SWITRA has come up with SwissTrail, a one-person tree tent featuring an ergonomic structure. Its innovative design will prevent discomfort, which in turn will wake you up fully energized after the night’s rest.

Unlike any other tree tent on the market, SwissTrail comes with flat-back support that ensures a natural and healthy sleeping posture. One person can set it up in seven simple steps that would take around five minutes.

As the company describes, the SwissTrail tent is set up between two fixed points (trees or pillars) with a lashing set. The strong tension prevents the tent floor from sagging like a hammock and ensures a more stable sleeping experience. The safety line above the tent prevents it from tipping over, so you don’t fall out.

The camping accessory is made from tear-resistant Nylon 66 (PA) fabric with PU coating. It comes with a hydrostatic head value of 4500mm initially and 1200 mm after aging and long-time exposure to humidity. Furthermore, it is engineered to handle wind speeds up to 50 km/h. As for durability testing, it meets ISO 3801, ISO 13934-1, ISO 7211, ISO 105-B01, ISO 811 standards.

SwissTrail has a thoughtfully designed interior that offers ample room for a single person to comfortably move and sleep. Each side has four small pockets to store essentials and small personal items while both corners feature dedicated space for larger items. This design keeps the main living area uncluttered to ensure a comfy and organized camping experience. There is also an integrated mosquito net for protection from insects.

SWITRA Swisstrail weighs 3.8kg and can support up to 150kg of weight. When packed, it can be stored inside a waterproof storage bag that fits easily into a backpack and can even be mounted on a bike. The company claims their tree tent can be used for camping in all seasons. They have also created four unique camouflage covers to help the tent blend into nature.

If you are interested in SwissTrail tree tent, it is currently being crowd-funded on Kickstarter. You can back the campaign for a minimum of $390 to get one in October 2025.
