I’m no coffee connoisseur, but I do love a good cup to kickstart my day. The problem is my kitchen counter is a battlefield. I already have a water filter, microwave, cooktop, and plenty of accessories scattered around, and a bulky grinder only adds to my misery. This is why I have long sought a portable and sleek grinder that doesn’t occupy too much space and offers reliable functionality. I had high hopes for the Kiple coffee grinder I discovered on Kickstarter, but the maker decided to cancel the project last minute. Luckily, I came across the Bottle Electric Coffee Grinder on the same platform.

Launched by XY Design, the all-electric bottle grinder is ultra-slim and lightweight compared to traditional coffee grinders on the market. Measuring 10.8 inches tall and 2.7 inches wide, the Bottle Electric Coffee Grinder, as the name suggests, is shaped like a sleek wine bottle you could toss in a bag or tuck in a corner. But it’s not just the size that makes it an instant attraction. The coffee grinder is powered by a 200W motor that can churn through 25 grams of beans in seconds, giving you that fresh-ground goodness without the hassle.

But it’s the cordless design that is the cherry on the cake for me. Rechargeable with a USB-C cable, the Bottle Electric Coffee Grinder promises 40 grinds per charge.

Another issue I have with regular coffee grinders is the unpleasant whirring sound. But that is not the case with this particular bottle grinder. The maker claims that the electric grinder produces sound under 50 dB. I can’t testify the fact unless I get my hands on it but given the amount of bad grinders I had to deal with in the past, I am ready to gamble with this one.

The wine bottle-shaped grinder has a fancy five-star conical burr system that promises uniform grind, whether I want a French press or espresso shot. It has six adjustable settings, too, so I can tweak it to my mood.

As per the maker, “The grinder features a 38mm diameter burr made from high-quality Stainless Steel 420. This material is chosen for its excellent durability, corrosion resistance, and the ability to maintain a consistent, sharp edge for effective grinding. These properties ensure that you get reliable and uniform coffee grinds every time.”

The thought of sipping a perfectly brewed cup knowing I nailed the grind, makes me feel like a barista in my own little world. Available in black, white, or green, the bottle shape isn’t just quirky, it’s practical. The grounds drop into a detachable 120-gram container at the bottom, so I can grind a batch and store it thanks to a twist-type bean hopper lid that ensures no spills and allows effortless refilling.

While I’ve been burned by crowdfunding delays before, the product seems genuine. The maker is even throwing in extras like a cleaning brush and USB-C cable, which makes the $89 early bird pledge (down from a $149 retail price) feel like a steal. There’s a duo pack for $169 if I can convince my coffee-obsessed sister to jump in with me.
