Last year, YouTuber Levi Kelly (who gives awesome Airbnb tours) built the world’s smallest tiny house. Now, he is back with another creation, which he claims is the world’s smallest functioning truck camper. We can’t be sure about the world’s smallest claim, but the DIY truck camper by Levi Kelly is definitely tiny.
Offering only 21 square feet of living space, this camper is based on a 1998 Honda Acty cabover, imported from Japan. Despite its size, it still manages to squeeze in more than we can imagine. Inside this 21-square-foot camper is a shower, running water, a toilet, a tiny fireplace, and solar panels on the roof.
Levi Kelly’s latest project is amazingly creative and adorable. The truck has a capacity of 700 to 800 lbs. and can be driven anywhere at 60 mph. So, if Levi wants to go camping, he can hitch a ride in this camper truck without hesitation. And when he is out in the wild, he has arrangements for off-grid living, too. There is a bed, a shower head, a sink with a faucet, running water, a solar panel, a fireplace, and a toilet, offering convenience in remote outdoor settings.
Levi changed the exterior color from blue to green to blend in with the surroundings, whereas the wheels are painted black. Apart from the color and new wheels, nothing has changed. Since weight has been the major concern, Levi used wall paneling rather than siding and sheathing. He also added cedar trims for a warm touch.
There are windows to keep the interior bright and breezy. For ventilation, the fan provides a better air flow and keeps the space comfortable. An adjustable roof-mounted solar panel is accessible via a ladder attached to the side of the camper and provides power, along with a battery inside.
At the rear of the camper, there is an entrance door. The interior is built using reclaimed wood, foam insulation, and stained with walnut for a nice finish. The use of space is pretty clever. There is a kitchen with a fully functioning sink with a decorative elephant faucet that pumps water from a 5-gallon fresh water tank underneath the sink, and a 7-gallon gray water tank for the wastewater.
There is also a little storage unit for daily essentials, along with a light by the bedside. A portable cooktop can be used for cooking, and the tiny fireplace keeps it warm on cold nights. There is a fan as well above the fireplace for ventilation. To access the bed, the fireplace is moved out of the way, and the removable countertop is lifted to make room for the head and the pillow. The only downside is that someone taller than 5 feet 10 inches won’t fit.

For the bathroom, there is a shower head that screws right into the faucet to get access to the 5-gallon fresh water tank. The shower hose can be reached from the outside and hooked onto the exterior to create a functioning outdoor shower. A cabinet above the bed houses a portable camping-style toilet. This toilet flushes the waste, which gets stored at the bottom of it. When the business is done, the toilet goes back inside the cabinet.
You must have noticed the bubble window on the roof. Well, it provides a little more headroom for Levi to comfortably sit upright on the toilet. And that is how this mini truck camper has everything one needs for a cozy night out. Levi estimated the total amount he has spent on this build, including the cost of the truck, is around $8,000.
