Last year, we featured the Bolotor Bolo Pack, a versatile outdoor device that doubled as a portable cooler and cozy hammock. Since then, the portable backpack cooler market has seen numerous product releases, but none have matched the multifunctionality of Bolotor’s offering. That may change with the Sofichill 22, a soft-sided compressor backpack cooler launched on Kickstarter by ChillBee.
The ChillBee Sofichill 22 isn’t a hammock, but it stands out with its portability, durability, and advanced cooling technology. The cooler boasts a capacity of 23 quarts (23 liters), which is spacious enough to carry food and drinks for a day trip, family outing, or weekend camping adventure. Unlike traditional coolers that rely on ice or gel packs, the Sofichill 22 uses ‘compressor-based cooling,’ which is more efficient and reliable. This technology not only cools faster but also maintains consistent temperatures without the mess of melting ice.
Courtesy of the compressor, Sofichill 22 reaches temperatures as low as -15 degrees Celsius in just 15 minutes. This rapid cooling capability eliminates the need for ice packs, freeing up space and reducing weight. To put that into context, the cooler can easily accommodate 12 cans and six bottles. Additionally, Sofichill boasts over 42 hours of cooling that keeps these items chilled for extended periods.
Beyond technical prowess, the cooler features a soft-sided design that is lightweight and easy to carry. Its ergonomic backpack straps make it comfortable for long treks, while the soft-shell design allows users to carry it comfortably on their backs while keeping their hands free for other gear.

The innovative cooler meets its power needs via a robust 27,000mAh power bank, making it ideal for off-grid adventures where access to electricity is limited. The ChillBee Sofichill 22 is currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter and can be availed at a super Early Bird price of $399.
