Signify has released Philips Hue Play wall washer that lets you light up your walls with colorful gradients. It looks like a simple table lamp that can be used as mood lighting with customizable scenes as well as a TV backlight for a better viewing experience. Just stand it upright on any surface, like beside your TV, for immersive lighting. As part of the Play family, it works with up to 12 Hue lights when connected to the Hue Bridge.
The Play wall washer features ColorCast projection technology to create vibrant, wide-angle gradients and dynamic lighting effects. You can select from preset light scenes or customize effects using the companion mobile app. There are options to personalize features such as intensity, speed, brightness, and positioning. The Hue app offers an intuitive 3D drag-and-drop tool for easy customization of light direction and placement.
When you sync the Play wall washer with games, movies, or music, it reacts instantly with colorful gradients and effects. You can adjust the light’s coverage by moving it closer or far from the wall. When not synced, it works as a premium ambient light. The wall washer is also compatible with the Hue HDMI Sync box, TV and PC Sync apps, all Hue accessories, and voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit.
Measuring just 3.6 x 3 x 6.2 inches, the Play wall washer boasts a sleek, compact design with an aluminum finish and a glass front that make it visually appealing even when it is switched off. It delivers 1,035 lumens of light through built-in LEDs, which are rated for a 25,000-hour lifespan.

Each unit comes with all the essential accessories needed to set up your Hue Play wall washer. However, you will need to connect it to the Hue Bridge to control it through the Hue app. For entertainment syncing with your TV or PC, you will also need to use the Hue Bridge along with the HDMI Sync Box or the TV/PC Sync app.
If compared with the Nanoleaf 4D Lighting Kit, which must be mounted behind the TV, the Play wall washer is much more portable and can be taken anywhere around your house. Available in black or white color options, the Philips Hue Play wall washer can be purchased for $220 right now.
Philips Hue also unveiled its new generative AI assistant that allows you to create deeply personalized lighting according to your moods, styles, and moments, based on your prompts given to it.
