Australia-based construction company Superpodhome has bagged the Good Design Award 2015 for their Superpod house in the category of Hardware and Building. The world’s most prestigious Good Design Award is international design promotion organization that is Australia’s longest standing national design award and promotion program, which highlights industrial designers’ and manufactures’ work of art to both national and international audiences. The awards are divided into seven categories, which represent more than 25 subcategories, making it the most wide-ranging design award in the world.

Superpod has recently received award in hardware and building category, due to its radical approach towards life and living. The innovative and thermally-efficient building design is built using the insulated steel panels and frames certified by the Passive House Institute. The pod is made from long and prefabricated components using latest technology to decrease the building waste and utilize very low energy while building houses. The Superpod is designed without using plaster, making it a fast built and virtually adaptive house that’s suitable for any climate and country.

Built in 2014, the single Superpod is located near the coast southeast of Melbourne; but the company is looking for partners to expand the company’s reach. The low energy, sustainable building with high quality material and comfortable temperature, received the award on Good Design Award Ceremony 2015, held on May 29 as a part of annual Vivid Sydney celebrations. According to the judging panel, the Superpod is an innovative house that meets and exceeds all the criteria for design excellence, and being an operative project, it holds the potential to transform the building industry into thermally-efficient, low-maintenance design and construction that not only provides hassle free living, but also helps in creating a healthy environment.

Receiving the most coveted award will surely motivate Superpodhome to come up with more energy-efficient living for the residents. Home Crux wishes them huge congratulation for their inventive house.
