After introducing Australian RV enthusiasts to Shorty and its family-friendly version, Hardkorr Campers has unveiled Xplorer Toy Hauler, a bigger, better, albeit more expensive version of its former lineup. As evident by the name, this compact yet robust camper trailer combines the best elements of Hardkorr’s Xplorer series with a unique toy-hauling capability, making it ideal for carrying dirt bikes, ATVs, or other equipment.
The trailer measures 18.2 feet long, 7.4 feet wide, and 7.9 feet high, making it the lengthiest and widest model in the HKC lineup. Designed specifically for Australia’s challenging terrains, the Xplorer Toy Hauler is built on a hot-dip galvanized steel chassis paired with a lightweight aluminum body. This construction ensures durability while keeping the trailer towable, with a tare weight of 3,968 lbs. (1,800kg) and an ATM of 6,600 lbs. (3,000kg), offering an impressive 2,645 lbs. (1,200kg) payload capacity. That’s enough to haul up to three dirt bikes or a single four-wheel ATV on its rear flatbed, making it a versatile choice for thrill-seekers and outdoor lovers alike.
The extra weight added by the gear-hauling flatbed in the back of the camper canopy doesn’t hinder the toughness, reliability, and off-road capability. Despite the extra load, the trailer is still capable enough to withstand the extreme conditions of the Australian outback.
Similar to its predecessors, the Xplorer Toy Hauler model is designed with rapid assembly in mind and can be set up in five minutes, courtesy of its dual-lift strut-assisted rooftop tent and a swing-around 270-degree awning that provides instant shelter from sun or rain. Not to mention, its patent-pending integrated staircase that offers safe and easy access for all ages and abilities, with lower steps that stow neatly into the chassis for travel.
The rooftop tent itself is spacious, featuring a comfortable 5.5-inch mattress and the ability to store bedding while on the move, freeing up interior space. For added convenience, a shower tent swings out and drops into place, doubling as a changing room or portable toilet space, ensuring privacy and comfort in the wild. On the downside, there is no toilet in any of the Xplorer models, so you would have to bring your own.
