We have seen camper trailers that can hold up against a predator attack, scuttle on rugged terrains, and even withstand high air pressure. Having seen all sorts of trailers, you have to wonder: Has the pursuit of designing the perfect camper trailer reached its pinnacle or is there still a scope left for improvement? Well, Australian teardrop trailer manufacturer Hardkorr Campers has brought forth a trailer displaying that trailer designs will be ever-evolving.

Recently highlighted by New Atlas, Hardkorr Campers has released the Xplorer 2.0 trailer (aka Shorty), a successor to the company’s Xplorer model that was released a year ago. Akin to its big brother, the Xplorer 2.0 is an ultra-rugged camper trailer with a tent, a 270-degree free-standing awning, a slide-out kitchen, and an outdoor shower. Not to mention, the integrated staircase that allows dwellers to reach the tent area with ease. The company mentions that it has applied for a patent for this unique staircase design.

There are a lot of similarities between the two models, but what truly separates the two campers is the compact size and low height of the Xplorer 2.0 trailer. Standing at just 6.4 feet high, the Xplorer 2.0 is garage compatible. It is designed to fit seamlessly into a standard suburban garage, hence bringing the freedom of road travel within reach.

The Xplorer 2.0 doesn’t just promise comfort; it’s built for adventure too. Constructed with a robust galvanized chassis and fitted with 265/75 R16 mud-terrain tires, the camper trailer is designed to tackle challenging terrains with ease. The trailer is also equipped with dual big-bore gas shocks, heavy-duty wheel bearings, and a 360-degree ball coupling hitch for superior off-road capability.

Despite its compact size and low height, this trailer doesn’t skimp on space or functionality. Its unique design features a large queen-sized rooftop tent, which can be fully assembled in under five minutes. An integrated staircase provides access to the tent, hence eliminating the need for cumbersome ladders. The camper trailer is also filled with an array of practical features that make it ideal for both short getaways and extended trips. Inside the Xplorer 2.0, you’ll find thoughtful storage solutions that maximize space and organization. You will find similar storage options on the exterior, too.

The trailer includes a slide-out kitchen with a large prep bench, a Dometic two-burner stove, and a pop-out kitchen sink. A dedicated fridge slide accommodates a 96L fridge, complete with an additional prep bench for convenience.

To help you survive off-grid, the camper comes loaded with several modern upgrades. These include Cruisemaster DO35 Drop-On Hitch and 33-inch tire to increase carrying capacity, 170W fixed solar panel to generate electricity, and 2000W Inverter to run your 240V appliances. Another optional upgrade is the awning wall set that allows for an enclosed space to shield against wind and rain. Elsewhere is a fold-out shower tent that ensures privacy.

Priced at $23,500 (AU $36,000), the Shorty camper trailer can be availed from the company’s official website. On a little downside, the trailer is only available in Australia at the moment, so if you are a US resident, you might have to wait to get your hands on this Hardkorr camper.
