Amazon subsidiary Ring has long been a strong player in the smart home security market, and its recent hardware event confirms this with several new devices and updates. As longtime fans of the brand, we are particularly impressed by the new “Retinal Vision” cameras that support 4K video recording. These AI-powered cameras set a new standard for clarity and intelligence by capturing critical details with lifelike precision. This results in videos that closely match what the human eye sees naturally.

Retinal Vision is Ring’s advanced camera technology that delivers ultra-clear, lifelike video with up to 4K resolution. It uses AI to optimize every step of image capture, providing sharper details, better low-light performance, and enhanced zoom, allowing you to see everything more clearly – as if with your own eyes. Other standout features are 10x zoom and better low-light performance that enable Retinal 4K cameras to show every crisp detail, even in dark or distant conditions.

Beyond getting better visual capabilities, the cameras benefit from Alexa+, which can now speak with people at your door. The new Alexa+ Greetings feature turns Alexa into a digital door attendant when someone visits. Alexa+ can ask why they are there, manage deliveries, give instructions, and let you know what is happening. This lets you handle visitors easily and safely, even if you are not home.

Furthermore, the Familiar Faces feature helps your Ring camera recognize people you know, so it will not send you alerts for their usual visits. It adds names to notifications, making it easier to see who is at your door and find important moments quickly without any guesswork.

Ring’s Retinal 4K technology powers its latest devices, including the Wired Doorbell Pro, Spotlight Cam Pro, Floodlight Cam Pro, and Outdoor Cam Pro. Pricing starts at $200 for the Outdoor Cam Pro, while the Wired Doorbell Pro is priced at $250. For a more budget-friendly option, Ring offers Retinal 2K resolution on the Indoor Cam Plus and Wired Doorbell Plus models.

In other related announcements, Ring has also unveiled Search Party for dogs: an AI-powered community feature that enables your outdoor Ring cameras to help reunite lost dogs with their families. When a lost dog is reported, nearby Ring cameras use AI to look for it and alert you if found. You can share the info or ignore the alert, helping neighbors find lost pets while keeping your privacy. This feature starts rolling out in November, followed by cats and other pets, and Alexa+ Greetings and Familiar Faces available in December.
