There is no dearth of lawn mowers and leaf blowers in the market. From battery-powered lawn mowers to budget-friendly blowers, the market is flooded with machines that excel in power and precision. But rarely do we come across robots that not only amalgamate these functions but also add another dimension to their functionality. This is where Apollo, a multi-functional AI yard robot, stands out. Besides functioning as a traditional robot lawn mower, Apollo has a modular design that works as a leaf collector and a snow plow.

The robot comprises a main unit, which is the chassis. A leaf collector, a snow blower, and a mower module are then attached to the core unit, depending on the user’s requirements. From a mowing standpoint, Apollo uses industrial-grade steel blades powered by dual high-speed motors. It cuts thick, tall, and even wet grass effortlessly. As per the makers, “the user can adjust mowing height from 0.4–4.3 inches to adapt to any lawn.”

Other snap-on modules include a 30-inch snow blower that throws snow 20 feet away, and a leaf collector with a 60-gallon hopper. “Apollo’s heavy-duty snow module clears all types of snow, ranging from light powder, heavy wet snow, and even packed snow with ease,” claims the maker. When it comes to the leaf collector module, instead of blowing them around, Apollo collects them directly thanks to the ‘Vacuum + blower dual mode’, which helps smooth the process. Other add-on features include a towing trailer, utility box, and a wireless charging dock.

If this reminds me of anything, it is the Marswalker, an add-on unit to a vacuum cleaner that allows the Eufy robot vacuum cleaner to climb the stairs. Whatever the case, the all-in-one machine still looks tailor-made for those tired of storing three different gas machines.

From what I recall, Kobi was once such a robot that boasted all these functionalities in one, but Kobi’s flight never took off, courtesy of Yarbo, which offered a much better version of yard-care robots. Fast-forward to today, Yarbo now has a competitor by the name of Apollo Turfstorm, whose latest campaign, Apollo, a multi-functional, modular lawn robot, is garnering attention online.

Most multi-functional robots struggle with navigation, but that is not to be the case with Apollo. Apollo uses RTK satellite positioning coupled with AI vision and deep-learning algorithms to achieve 1 cm-level precision, negating the need for boundary wires. The all-in-one robot automatically maps your yard, recognizes obstacles, and defines work zones, all without manual setup. This allows fully autonomous mowing, snow clearing, and leaf collection, even in complex terrains.

Currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter, the all-in-one yard robot boasts features like all-wheel drive, a swappable battery, and IP56 protection, allowing Apollo to take care of your lawn in summer, clear fallen leaves in autumn, and remove heavy snow in winter. The robot garners power from a 58-volt, 10-amp-hour swappable battery. TurfStorm claims up to four hours of mowing or two hours of snow-blowing per charge. Interested can preorder the multi-functional yard robot at an early-bird pricing, which starts at $3,599 on Kickstarter.
