IKEA started its speaker range with Sonos, making the Symfonisk lamp speakers back in 2019. After that deal, the Swedish retailer released colorful Bluetooth speakers like the VAPPEBY and NATTBAD, blending sound quality and vibrant design. Now, IKEA has introduced new speakers, Solskydd and Kulglass, which combine technology and personal style to be functional centerpieces in your home.

IKEA teamed up with designer Tekla Evelina Severin (Teklan) to create vibrant and playful speakers with bold patterns and unexpected colors that make technology a lively and visible part of your home. Sara Ottosson, IKEA’s Product Developer, said the goal was for speakers to add personality and atmosphere to rooms, not just through sound, but also with their design, color, and character.

The design focus is to create sound products that add character and style even when not playing music. The SOLSKYDD speaker family, designed by Ola Wihlborg for both appearance and sound quality, features three round Bluetooth speakers, each with its own look and size. The smallest portable model boasts an elegant orange color with an eye-catching pattern, while the medium version sports a green color with brown and beige diagonal stripes. Both models can be hung or placed on their stands.

The largest SOLSKYDD speaker in an orange textured finish is meant for wall mounting and can be paired with a screen. Teklan wraps the fronts with clear shapes and patterns, creating lively optical effects. All speakers can connect and other compatible IKEA Bluetooth speakers for multi-speaker use. They support Spotify Tap, letting you instantly play music from where you left off with a single press.

Next is the KULGLASS lineup that includes two lamp speakers in shades of green and red-brown with pink, designed to combine light, sound, and color in one unit. Their friendly, inviting shapes feature a swirl-shaped shade inspired by soft-serve ice cream. IKEA also revealed a version of the classic FADO lamp, known for its simple, round design and soft, gentle glow.

The collaboration combines Teklan’s unique use of color and playful geometric shapes with IKEA’s Scandinavian sophistication. By merging her creative vision with IKEA’s design expertise, the collection brings together color, light, and sound in a cool new way. IKEA’s new speakers and lamps will be available to purchase globally in December 2025, with launch dates varying by market.
